Hello friends!

We’re an intersectional feminist podcast run by a woman of colour youareacooldude and a white trans woman callieandcats. We work hard to put out a great show that we ourselves would want to listen to.

We have a whole archive you can listen to here or on iTunes.

We put hours of our life into this little show we love so dearly, and we would love if you could help support the show!

How can you do this?

Well, you can either donate via PayPal or if you want a lil reward, buy some cute ass merch! We have the best logo ever, I’d wear it on my butt if I could.

Thanks so much for sticking with us! We love ya!!

XOXO

Hello, I just stumbled across this podcast in my search for women-hosted podcasts I hadn't listened to yet. I almost didn't click through, though, because of the name you chose - Not All Women. Your About page has assured me that you understand yourselves to be intersectional feminists, but I remain nonplussed by your choice of title. Is it safe to assume that you are both familiar with why Not All Women might be understood as aggressively anti-feminist in the context of #YesAllWomen?

Absolutely, and I guess that’s why we chose it. I’s a dumb, fun name and we were aware of the risk of misunderstanding but it’s pretty obvious we’re joking!

Glad you found us! :)

Episode 12 - Fernanda Meier and Lena Waithe

Callie is back, but we’re still missing a host. Fernanda Meier makes her return to the show to fill in as co-host. The ladies have a conversation about black history month and the prison industrial complex. Callie and Fernanda also speak to the wonderful Lena Waithe, producer of Dear White People and creator of Twenties, to talk about her art, her philosophy toward her craft and the current state of black television.

Callie got struck down by the illness Gods, so she’s absent this week.

Fear not, dear subscribers, for Sarah recruited another Sarah, her friend Sarah El Baz to co-host. The Two Obnoxious Sarahs talk Taylor Swift, Delhi Chic vs Parisian Chic, quasi-near-death experiences and a whole bunch of other beautiful nonsense including a listener poll!

This week’s guest is someone Sarah was VERY excited to invite on the show - lead singer of Joanna Gruesome, Alanna McArdle. They talk about being a lady in punk and independent music scenes, mental health, finding people who get you and creating your own support network online, the pains of university and touring with some fucking awesome bands.

This is the end of Season 1 of Not All Women. Next week commemorates the start of a new chapter in this podcast’s life and we are very excited.

Follow Sarah on Twitter.

We are also hosting Part II of our Q&A next week, and we all know you’re DYING to get involved.

You can ask us questions about ANYTHING: feminism, racial issues, trans issues, Callie and Sarah in general, advice, relationships, ghee - whatever you want, provided it’s not offensive (i.e. MEAN, you can swear or be explicit all you want).

You can email us your questions or if you wish to be anonymous, send us an ask.

You have until Friday 31st January to submit your questions.

Callie and Andrea Silenzi, host of Why Oh Why? on WFMU and Senior Producer of The Gist with Mike Pesca, talk about her show, feminism, how they found their way into feminism, coming out as gay/queer and trans, Love Actualized, just how much truth there is to gender-based stereotypes and a lot more.

Sarah and Callie decide to get topical and discuss Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Bill Cosby joke, what constitutes satire, and Margaret Cho’s portrayal of a North Korean journalist at the Golden Globes.

We’re properly, properly back and we’re ready to kick major butt in 2015.

We explain our hiatus and talk about what we’ve been up to - ups and downs.

We’re also joined by the Slack Mistress herself, Nina Bargiel, to talk Hollywood: namely being a woman in screenwriting, her personal experiences, her past and upcoming projects, acknowledging and dealing with one’s privilege and lack or privilege especially in a career that lacks diversity, and she dishes out some career advice for women and particularly women of colour wanting a job in screenwriting.

Okay, okay, you can put your tear-soaked tissues away - Sarah’s back!

Sarah was joined by her friend, Sanaa Hamid, a British Pakistani visual artist perhaps most recognisable for her photography series on cultural appropriation.

Sanaa talks about her trip to Pakistan to photograph women for her series, My Body Is Not Your Battleground, and other projects she has done. Sanaa and Sarah also discuss growing up in Britain with an Asian background, frustrating misconceptions about their respective motherlands and Fawad Khan.

Callie and Sarah give their two cents on the recent Lena Dunham child sex abuse scandal, discuss the BRAND SPANKING NEW Podroll feature on the site and [sigh] make even MORE Best Show references.

On this episode, Callie is joined by guest co-host Janette (@azninthesun) while Sarah is off doing important Sarah things! Callie and Janette have a long discussion of the recent street harassment video and talk about both what the video brought up and what it ignored. It’s an in-depth discussion of many issues, all of which go back to inherent racism and misogyny.

Callie also interviews Fernanda Meier (@lenubienne) to talk about issues regarding being a black woman in American and, more specifically, a black woman of mixed ethnicity.

All in all, you’ll meet two wonderful ladies and hopefully learn along with Callie about what their experiences are like!

After the lengthy, yet super awesome FEMINISTPALOOZA of last episode, it’s time for things to go back to normal. Callie and Sarah have a nice chit chat about all sorts of important issues like Moroccan black magic, pick-up artists and uh, emperor penguins.

Sarah virtually sat down with Canadian disabled, queer, sex-educator and author, Kaleigh Trace to talk about her job, book, farts, sexual perceptions of people who aren’t thin, cis, able-bodied white people, BJs and dusting dildos.

COMPETITION TIME

We have TWO COPIES of Kaleigh’s book, Hot, Wet, and Shaking to give away! Isn’t that awesome? Plus the competition’s open internationally.

On this week’s episode, we decided to spend our monthiversary in style by hosting our very first Q&A! We got some good questions, so we might make this a regular thing, maybe bimonthly? Trimonthly? Who knows? Topics include ethnic identity, engaging with feminism from a more intersectional perspective, eating disorders, radical feminism, Ray Rice, Roger Goodell and the NFL, Beyoncé, Emma Watson, internalised misogyny, sex positivity and polysexual relationships.

Sarah was joined by her friend, film buff Grace Barber-Plentie, to talk about her film club, POC and WOC representation in Western film, seeking out like-minded feminists on an international scale, growing up biracial in mainly white British towns and cities, and of course, fur coats, Drake and the Kardashian West family.

This week, Callie interviews her bff to talk more in-depth about trans issues. A lengthy episode, but we think that you’ll enjoy this discussion of issues that aren’t always talked about outside of trans circles. iTunes consider us either new or noteworth! Comedian, author, screenwriter, journalist, teacher, speaker, LGBT and mental health rights activist, former-podcaster and all-round badass.

Sara is captivating, brutally honest and unashamedly feminist; she loves herself, and loves her sexuality a little more, and for that, she is one of my role models. She is an incredibly talented and diverse performer, from the on-point, sometimes scary impressions of Sarah Palin to her true raw, witty style on her podcast with Marcus Parks, Sex And Other Human Activities.

On this episode, we talk all things sexting, Hollywood, and not to forget, dog poop.
